This is actually a special moment I feel like I need to appreciate for a second.
Ok! Great moment. So for the last six months I’ve been working tirelessly on a new series titled “From Stars to Plastic.” This would be my first solo art show to date. It has been a rollercoaster containing great joy, great fear, a thrown out back, and not to mention many hours staring at the extreme curvature of Kim Kardashian’s body in a mirror pic. All in the name of ART!
For this series I departed from mysterious girls laying around in nature and decided to embrace what is at the epicenter of the city I call home – Celebrity. Some of the subject matter are current, we love them or we love to hate them. But one thing is undeniable, that they are recognizable and we have preconceived notions about them. I was interested to see how people viewed fine art differently based on who and what they were able to recognize.
I’m more than grateful and indebted to Natasha at New Profanity (where the show took place) for taking a chance on an artist like me. Below are a few shots from the opening reception! If you missed it, the show will be up until May 14th at New Profanity, 7418 Melrose Ave, LA, CA, 90046.
And of course, thank you to all the beautiful people who attended and made it so special!
