It’s nearing the end of March which means the end of another over-stimulating, over RSVPing week of madness that is LAFW. Six Summit Gallery teams up with Art Heart’s Fashion twice a year in New York City, Los Angeles and Miami for a week packed with red carpets, fashion shows, outfits, and of course ART!
The chosen venue this Spring was the Park Plaza Hotel in MacArthur Park, a beautiful and historic Neo-Gothic building adorned with angelic statues and brimming with stories of abandon and renovation. It was an ethereal backdrop for the art. I was lucky enough to meet some of the other artists, getting to know them and their work was such an honor. See below photos from the event and the talented artists I discovered this year at Art Hearts Fashion!
I was immediately drawn to these flowing, sensuous, and deeply hued abstracts by Stephanie McDairmant of Canary in a Coal Mine artwork. When I was introduced to her she tells me she creates them using only her breath. Come again?! Color me intrigued. Apparently it was out of frustration of paint brushes that she found the power of creating through pushing the pigments with her breath. LOVE it!
I met Shlome Hayun and we seemed to bond over our initial reluctance turned affinity towards portraying pop figures in art. He’s working on a series of pop icons for a special tribute to the Hollywood Palladium. I love his brilliant bold use of color and thick outlines that resemble a screen print. Keep up with his art here: @shlome_j_art
